Meet:
After seeing your property, together we review your color options, curb styles, stamping/texturing choices and individual designs we can create that elevate the look and function of your yard. We will then review an estimate with you, make any updates and get you on our schedule. Keep in mind we are happy to do smaller projects, however we have a job minimum of $1000 as we are bringing in equipment, materials, labor, and disposing of materials for every job.
Prep:
On arriving, our crew removes any existing landscape edging and material. We then follow a marked design line with a machine that will create a clean 8" wide path where your border will be installed. This destroys any existing roots from creeping grasses, and provides a smooth path for the curb. The soil is pulverized and disposed of by us.
Mixing:
Once the ground is ready, we begin mixing concrete on site. We mix your chosen color, Portland cement, sand, and other strengthening ingredients to make the most durable curb.
Extruding:
The mix is now shoveled into the extruding machine which tightly compacts the concrete, leaving a continuous line of curbing behind.
Finishing and stamping:
The curb is then hand troweled to perfection leaving behind a smooth curb. We then texture and stamp your curb with the pattern of your choice. Elite strives to be the best in the market with the best in curb materials and designs. Once the curb is finished and the pattern is complete, expansion joints are cut into the curb approximately every 2 feet.
Sealing:
Sealing is the final step of installing your new concrete curb. We carefully seal your finished curb with a specially formulated UV resistant sealer.
If you have existing grass or other materials, it will not be affected by our machines. A path about 8" wide be cleared to install your curbing. Outside that area, the grass remains the same. We will discuss where sprinkler head changes might be needed and we are able to provide the irrigation adjustment as well. We transfer the concrete using a wheel barrow with large turf tires, which will not tear up your grass. You curb is extruded through a curb machine. The concrete is mixed onsite with a specialized trailer and mortar mixer. There is very minimal disturbance to your property.
You have a number of options with curbing. There are many different sizes, styles, and shapes. Curb can be colored and or colored and stamped. Multi-colored with different antique releases. Curbing can also be made to look like stone with our exclusive carving techniques. We offer regular slant style with color, stamped seamless, stamped light carve, and stamped heavy carved. Each carved curb will be unique and not like anyone else's.
Landscape curbing is just that, for your landscape. Keep in mind it's different than curb you see in a parking lot. It doesn't have the same aggregate. PSI for normal landscape curb varies on the type of sands used and ratios mixed. Most are in the 2000 psi range. You can do several things when it comes to reinforcement. Rebar like in flatwork isn't an option when it comes to this. Some run cable in their curb as that may help with separation which is tensile strength. Others, like us, use blended polymers and fiber which not only increases tensile strength but compression strength as well.
Our warranty on curbing is a 2 year workmanship warranty. Because this type of concrete cures so fast any issues you will have will commonly occur in the first 24 hours. Spider cracks are a concrete issue that can and may occur. Do we ever have issues with them? No, but you need to be aware. If a crack forms and it's more than a 1/4 inch wide, it is operator error and will be fixed. Cracks that occur due to vehicles, heavy mowers, natural occurrences such as tree roots, ground heaving, etc. will not be covered under warranty. Common sense really comes into play, when a car drives on landscape curb it's probably not going hold up. Spider cracks are a fact of life in concrete and may occur in certain situations.
Being a landscaping company, we care about your vision for your yard. We are happy to discuss your landscaping needs, help where we can, and refer out where needed.
